This place is a hidden gem. It's a bit out there however, well worth the drive. Choke Canyon is Texas BBQ done right. Tender and bold, slow smoked flavored BBQ. The brisket is amazing. The beef ribs are out of this world. Great sides. Can't go wrong with beans and potato salad. Did I mentioned that they give you large portions? Absolutely will not leave this place hungry. Cobblers for desert. This is what Texas BBQ is supposed to be.

Nice restaurant. Ribs were tender but seem to be smoked with liquid. No burn marks or dark color. Seemed to be cooked in a big metal smoker. Corn on the cob was tough. Appeared undercooked. Free beans were very good. Potato salad must have come from a 5 gallon white bucket from Ben E. Keith. Very bland. Asked if they made there own mashed potatoes, was told they came from Ben E. Keith. A good restaurant will make there own sides. Good cherry cobbler. Brisket was tender but lacked color. Doesn't appear that any real wood was used in there BBQing.

I'm sure the people that move here from california love it and think they're eating authentic Texas BBQ but real Texans know what BBQ is and it isn't dry and it isn't what's being served here. Real Texas BBQ places have homemade mashed taters. Not that sysco slop. The meat should fall off the bone and the brisket should melt in your mouth and have a nice burn edge. It's a slightly better, but much more expensive bill millers

Good food. Portions a bit small for the price but good flavor. Potato salad too sweet. Friendly staff. Too many dirty tables.

Great place, brisket was really good and ladies working at counter were fantastic. But the best thing is their barbecue beans, they make it worth the stop. Thank you Choke Canyon.
